Arms Turnover



Military weapons. Export, import, re-export, transit, inward processing and outward processing, temporary admission  or/and temporary export of military arms, as well as export, import, re-export and transit of other weapons and ammunition is allowed on the basis of a special permit issued by the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
Conventional Arms for civil purpose. Import to Georgia or export from Georgia (other than transit or re-export) of arms and basic elements of weapons or/and ammunition is performed according to Georgian legislation, on the basis of a proper permit is issued by a legal entity of public law – Service Agency of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Sporting or hunting firearms. Temporary admission to Georgia or Temporary export from Georgia of sporting and hunting firearms by a specific sporting organization for sporting events purposes is performed on the basis of a proper permit issued by a legal entity of public law – Service Agency of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Export of arms by a foreign citizen. A foreign citizen has a right to purchase a weapon in Georgia or/and export the weapon purchased in Georgia in accordance to a proper permit issued on the basis of a special permit issued by a legal entity of public law  – Service Agency of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, based on an official application of relevant foreign government.
Import of arms by a foreign citizen. A foreign citizen has the right to import to Georgia sporting or hunting firearms, as well as its necessary ammunition (no more than 500 bullets), on the basic of a proper contract of hunting, or invitation to a sporting event and a permit issued by a legal entity of public law – Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as for the exposure – a permit issued by the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. The imported weapon should be exported from Georgia in due terms as defined by a relevant contract or invitation.
Official visitors. During visits of foreign government or international organization representatives, as well as other important persons defined by the State Security Special Service act registry, import and export of weapons and ammunition by their accompanying persons is performed on a basis of a permit issued by Georgia State Security Special Service, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia as well as Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia will be properly informed about this.
